A new way to auction

The After Auction is a little different than your normal auction, so there are a few things that you need to know.  The majority of our online liquidation auctions are happening because a house or other space needs to be fully emptied. Most of our auctions are essentially estate sales online. You will find many different kinds of things for sale. There will be many auction lots that have mixed items. We might sell the entire contents of a cabinet, shed or closet. We will do our best to show you what you will be getting in the auction lots, but there may be some additional estate treasures that you weren’t expecting! You will definitely get some amazing deals. Please note that currently the majority of our sales are Florida online auctions in the Gainesville area of north central Florida.

Buyers do have some responsibilities that they need to follow in order to participate in our estate sale auctions. Please read the following information carefully before bidding with us.

REGISTERING

The first step to getting great deals with The After Auction, is registering to bid. When you set up your account you will be asked to provide your name, email address and a password. Although that is the only information required in order to establish an account, you will have to add your phone number and credit card information before you can place a bid.

BIDDING

Before bidding on any item or lot, be sure that you will be available to pick up the items you purchase at the required time. The location, day, and time range for pick-up is listed at the top, right of the auction’s page as well as under the description on each item’s page.

When you find an item or lot you want, you can enter a “max bid” and have the site automatically bid for you if your initial amount gets outbid! These automatic bids will be placed at the next highest incremental amount from the current winning bid. Of course the system will not generate an automatic bid over your max bid amount.

After you enter your bid you will see “Winning” if you are the high bidder, you will see “Outbid” if someone has entered a bid higher than or equal to yours. See the examples in the photos below.

An example of what you will see when you bid on an auction lot.

If you are later outbid you will be notified by email.

Lots have staggered ends times. Bids in the last minute will extend the end time.

WINNING

Please note that winners will be charged a small buyer’s premium equal to the greater of $1 or 3% of the purchase price. This fee will be included on your invoice.

After the auction is complete, you will be emailed your invoice that includes all of the items you won plus the buyers’ premium. If you don't see an email from us in your inbox, check your spam folder. We recommend that you add “theafterauction.com” to your email's approved senders list.

The pick up instructions will be at the bottom of your invoice. You must pick up the items at the day and time specified.

PICK UP

  • You must bring your own packing supplies. Items are usually "where is," meaning that if you are bidding on a closet full of clothing, when you show up the items will still be in the closet. You are responsible for bringing packing supplies and anything else you might need to transport your purchase.

  • You must take everything you bought. You must take all the items in your lot even if you do not want some of them. For large lots like closets and sheds, we recommend bringing bags and boxes you can sort wanted and unwanted items into.

  • You must bring someone to help load items if you can't do it yourself. We cannot help with this.

  • Failure to follow the rules will result in being banned from future sales and auctions.

Contact us if you have any questions, and be prepared to get some incredible deals from The After Auction’s online estate sales!
